Jurassic World: Chaos Theory – Epic Evolution Danger Pack Hypsilophodon

Hypsilophodon foxii was described by Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869 from fossils found in the Wessex Formation of the Isle of Wight, England, dating to the Early Cretaceous (Barremian stage, approximately 125 million years ago). For nearly a century it was misidentified as a tree-climber — a 19th-century interpretation based on a misread of its foot anatomy that persisted in textbooks until the 1970s, when a detailed biomechanical study by Peter Galton conclusively showed it was a ground-dweller. What Hypsilophodon actually was is a fast, agile bipedal herbivore: long hindlimbs relative to body size, a stiffened tail for balance at speed, and a small beak adapted for selective cropping of low vegetation. At roughly 1.5 metres in length it was one of the smaller ornithopods of its era, but its speed and agility would have made it difficult prey for the theropods sharing its Wealden environment. The Chaos Theory Danger Pack figure brings that overlooked Early Cretaceous herbivore into the Epic Evolution range.
