Jurassic World: Hammond Collection Mattel 2024 SCUTOSAURUS 8+ Brand New
Jurassic World: Hammond Collection – Scutosaurus
Scutosaurus is a pareiasaur — a heavily built, armour-plated reptile from the Late Permian period, predating the dinosaurs by tens of millions of years. It was a large, slow-moving herbivore with a broad, barrel-shaped body, stubby limbs, and bony scutes embedded in its skin that gave it a tank-like appearance. Pareiasaurs like Scutosaurus are thought by some palaeontologists to be distant relatives of turtles, which makes their body plan make a lot more sense when you look at the armoured, low-slung profile. Its inclusion in the Hammond Collection is one of the line's most unexpected and rewarding choices — a Permian-era animal that has nothing to do with the Mesozoic, included because John Hammond's vision was always about bringing prehistoric life back in its full breadth, not just the crowd-pleasing giants. The collector-grade presentation does justice to a species that rarely gets any figure treatment at all.
