Jurassic World: Dominion – Dino Trackers Strike Attack Herrerasaurus

Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis was one of the earliest dinosaurs — described from the Ischigualasto Formation of Argentina, dating to the Late Triassic (Carnian stage, approximately 231 million years ago), placing it at the very dawn of the dinosaur lineage. Its classification has been debated since its 1963 description: early analyses placed it outside the main dinosaur groups entirely, while later work positioned it as a basal theropod or a member of a separate early carnivore lineage. What is clear is that Herrerasaurus was an active, bipedal predator — roughly 3 to 6 metres in length depending on the specimen — with a flexible lower jaw joint that allowed it to grip struggling prey, and a body plan that anticipates the later theropod lineage without fully committing to it. It shared the Ischigualasto environment with Eoraptor and the early sauropodomorph Panphagia, making it part of one of the most important fossil assemblages for understanding dinosaur origins.
