Makkari is the fastest Eternal — a cosmic being created by the Celestials and stationed on Earth for seven thousand years, her superhuman speed the result of channelling her entire cosmic energy output into a single power rather than spreading it across multiple abilities. In the MCU's Eternals, she is also deaf, and the film uses her speed sequences to striking effect: the silence from her perspective contrasted against the sonic boom destruction she leaves behind. Lauren Ridloff's performance made Makkari one of the film's most visually distinctive characters, and her fight against Ikaris in the third act — using her speed to outmanoeuvre his heat vision across the Domo — is one of the MCU's more inventive action sequences. In the comics, Makkari has one of the longest publication histories of any Eternal, appearing as early as 1976 and going through multiple identity iterations before the character was reimagined as a woman in the Kieron Gillen run that directly informed the film.
