Black Tom Cassidy is one of the X-Men's oldest recurring villains — an Irish mutant with the ability to channel energy blasts through wood and plant matter, most famously through his signature shillelagh. His history with the X-Men is deeply personal: he's the cousin of Banshee, which means his antagonism with the team has always carried a family dimension that goes beyond standard villain-hero conflict. His partnership with Juggernaut is one of the most enduring villain team-ups in X-Men history, the two of them operating as a complementary pair across decades of stories from the Claremont era through to more recent runs. Black Tom has also undergone some of the more dramatic power evolutions in the X-Men rogues gallery, at various points merging with plant matter to become something far more monstrous than his original form. Getting a Legends figure at all is a significant moment for a character who has been a fixture of X-Men comics since the 1970s without ever receiving the figure treatment his history warranted.
