Jurassic World: Dominion – Ferocious Pack Miragaia

Miragaia longicollum was described from the Late Jurassic Lourínhã Formation of Portugal in 2009, dating to approximately 150 million years ago. Its most remarkable feature is its neck: with at least 17 cervical vertebrae — more than any other known stegosaurian and more than most sauropods of comparable body size — Miragaia has a proportionally elongated neck that sets it apart from every other member of the stegosaurian family. The function of that neck is debated: it may have allowed Miragaia to browse higher vegetation than its relatives, or it may have played a role in display and intraspecific competition. Like other stegosaurians it carried plates along its back and spikes on its tail, but the neck length gives it a silhouette unlike anything else in the group. Its Portuguese origin also makes it part of a Late Jurassic Iberian fauna that shared close ties with the Morrison Formation of North America, reflecting the land connections that existed between the continents at that time. The Ferocious Pack figure captures that distinctive long-necked profile with an articulated action feature.
